POMP >> Container housing

Such a cool concept! There are now various companies out there specializing in making housing out of storage containers and leftover shipping containers. According to BusinessWeek, this is one of the most important inventions that will flourish in the next 10 years. Some companies are building them in third world countries, where they will cost about $10K. They're so cute!

Here's a virtual blueprint (or "greenprint" as they're calling them) of one by Envision Prefab, based in Boca Raton, FL:

And I LOVE this one! A container house designed by Leger Wanaselja. It's located on the top of a hill in the East Bay:

I can't wait to get my own cute little house to decorate! Target is really stepping it up in their home furnishings department:

CRACKLE >> Kate Winslet on Extras

In celebration of her much-deserved Oscar win, here's a hilarious clip of her guesting on BBC's Extras. She plays herself as an Oscar-obsessed expert on how to talk dirty. Enjoy!

Yay Kate!

POMP >> Field Notes

Lately I've been into jotting down notes every day. I find that my lists and scribbles are a more effective way to record what I'm thinking/obsessing about than writing it in prose journal-style - which can be hard to keep up because it takes so much time anyway.

I found these Field Notes notebooks randomly by clicking on an ad. Turns out there's quite a cult following for them - bound to happen with simple, well-designed, inexpensive ($9.95 for pack of 3) products. I think they will be my next mini-notebook purchase.

SNARK >> Regrets

Steve Delahoyde has an interesting series of short films on YouTube called "Regrets".

As someone with lots of enthusiasm and not much perseverance, I especially identify with the latest movie, "Hobbies". I'm pretty sure I won't play tennis again, and I think I've also lost interest in cooking although I might circle back.

Here's the whole series on YouTube:
